Nestlé recalls select baby food products in Uzbekistan over toxin risk
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure and is considered part of a “global product recall process” involving Nestlé products. The recall is linked to a potential risk of cereulide toxin found in arachidonic acid supplied by an external supplier. If ingested, the toxin can cause acute poisoning, with key symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Nestlé Food has announced a voluntary recall in Uzbekistan of a limited quantity of baby food products – instant milk-based and fermented milk dry formulas, as well as certain batches of specialized amino acid-based dry formulas for medical dietary use.
According to the company, the decision was made as a precaution and forms part of a global Nestlé recall. The reason is the potential presence of cereulide toxin in arachidonic acid supplied by an external vendor. Exposure to this toxin may lead to acute intoxication, primarily manifesting as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
The recall applies to the following product batches:
• NAN 1 OPTIPRO – batches 51490346AB, 51750346AA, 51900346AE, 51760346AA, 52180346AB, 52670346AE, 52680346AD, 51500346BA, 51910346BA
• NAN 2 OPTIPRO – batches 5172080622, 5206080621, 5298080624, 5205080661, 5206080661, 5289080661, 5290080661, 5204080611, 5205080611
• NAN Kislo-molochniy (0–12 months) – batch 51230017A1
• NAN Supreme (0–12 months) – batch 52790742C1
• ALFARE Amino – batches 51050017Y2, 51470017Y1, 52730017Y1
It was emphasized that although the amount of this ingredient is extremely small and regulations in Uzbekistan do not require the standardization of cereulide toxin levels in food products, Nestlé is implementing voluntary recall measures for limited batches of baby food products starting January 5, as part of its global decision to mitigate potential risks. The company has notified Uzbekistan’s regulatory authorities of this decision.
Consumers who purchased products from the listed batches may return them in accordance with established procedures. The recall does not affect other batches of the listed products or other baby food products offered by Nestlé in Uzbekistan.
Earlier, it was reported that Nestlé had initiated recalls of baby food products in several European countries and in Kazakhstan due to the same hazardous toxin.
