President Mirziyoyev departs for Switzerland to sign US-initiated Peace Council charter
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has departed for Switzerland on a working visit to attend the signing ceremony of the charter of the newly established Peace Council, to be held in the city of Davos on 21 January.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, who initiated the creation of the Peace Council as a new international structure aimed at bringing together countries willing to assume responsibility for promoting long-term peace, stability, and security in Gaza.
Earlier, Uzbekistan accepted an invitation to join the Peace Council as a founding member. The initiative is intended to consolidate international efforts to address protracted conflicts in the Middle East and contribute to sustainable peace and stability across the wider region.
In a letter addressed to the US President, Mirziyoyev described the initiative as an important step toward resolving long-standing conflicts in the Middle East and strengthening peace and stability throughout the region.
The signing ceremony in Davos is expected to formalize the establishment of the Peace Council and outline its foundational principles and objectives.
