Remittances to Uzbekistan jump 27% to $18.9bn in 2025
Money transfers to Uzbekistan rose sharply in 2025, reaching $18.9 billion and significantly exceeding both last year’s level and the Central Bank’s initial forecasts, according to official data.

The Central Bank reported that remittances increased by 27.2 percent year on year, up from $14.8 billion in 2024. The result far outpaced earlier expectations, which had projected growth of 10–12 percent for the year. In May, the regulator revised its forecast to 15–18 percent, but actual growth proved substantially stronger.
Monthly data show that remittance inflows exceeded 2024 levels in every month of 2025. The highest volumes were recorded in July ($1.97 billion), August ($1.9 billion), September ($1.84 billion), and October ($1.86 billion).
According to the Central Bank, the surge was driven mainly by external factors. These included the strengthening of currencies in key partner countries, most notably the appreciation of the Russian ruble, as well as an increase in labor migration flows to other countries.
The regulator also reported a sharp rise in net foreign currency sales by the population. In 2025, the positive balance between foreign currency sold and purchased by households amounted to $9.7 billion, 1.4 times higher than in 2024.
“Overall, the strong growth in remittances has become an important factor supporting domestic consumption and maintaining stability in the foreign exchange market,” the Central Bank said.
Data from the National Statistics Committee show that remittances from abroad accounted for a growing share of household incomes. By the end of 2025, their contribution rose from 16.5 percent to 21 percent nationwide, exceeding 30 percent in some regions.
