Avalanche risk declared in mountainous areas of Uzbekistan
Authorities have issued an avalanche warning for several mountainous regions of Uzbekistan due to expected precipitation and sharp temperature fluctuations forecast for February 5–9, 2026.

According to Uzhydromet data, intermittent precipitation is expected across parts of the country during this period, accompanied by significant changes in air temperature. As a result, the risk of snow avalanches has been declared in a number of mountain districts.
The warning applies to the following areas:
- Kashkadarya region: Dehqonobod, Kitob, Qamashi, and Shahrisabz districts;
- Surkhandarya region: Boysun, Qumqorgon, Sariosiyo, and Uzun districts;
- Samarkand region: Nurobod, Qoshrabot, Samarkand, and Urgut districts;
- Jizzakh region: Bakhmal and Zomin districts;
- Tashkent region: Bostonlyk, Parkent, and Ohangaron districts, including the Chatkal mountain range;
- Namangan region: Pop district.
Relevant agencies have urged residents of mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through these routes to exercise heightened caution. They have also advised the public to closely monitor weather updates and avoid entering potentially hazardous zones during the warning period.
