The warning covers parts of Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Navoi, Jizzakh, Tashkent, Namangan, Fergana and Andijan regions, as well as the cities of Angren, Almalyk and Khanabad.
According to the national weather service, rainfall expected on October 11–12 could trigger mudflows and flooding in foothill and mountainous areas.
The areas at risk include Yakkabog, Dehqonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi and Guzar districts in Kashkadarya region; Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Qumqorgon and Muzrabot districts in Surkhandarya region; and Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Koshrabot, Kattakurgan, Payariq, Jomboy and Ishtikhon districts in Samarkand region.
The warning also applies to Khatyrchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimekh and Karmana districts in Navoi region; Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish and Yangiabad districts in Jizzakh region; and Ohangaron, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq and Yuqori Chirchiq districts, along with Angren and Almalyk cities, in Tashkent region.
In Namangan region, the affected areas are Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan and Yangiqorgon districts. In Fergana region, the warning covers Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana and Beshariq districts. In Andijan region, it applies to Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad and Marhamat districts, as well as Khanabad city.
Uzhydromet said rainwater could accumulate in different parts of the country, potentially causing flooding.
Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, holidaymakers and drivers travelling through mountainous areas have been urged to take precautions.
