Uzbekistan delivers humanitarian aid to Iran

According to the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan, the consignment includes essential foodstuffs – among them flour, rice, sugar, pasta, sunflower oil and canned goods – alongside medicines and medical equipment.

Iranian officials have expressed their gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the assistance, describing the gesture as a sign of friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

The aid delivery comes amid ongoing tensions in the region following strikes reportedly carried out by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on February 28. According to media reports, the operation targeted key government and military sites and resulted in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior officials.

Iran responded by launching retaliatory strikes against Israel and targeting US military installations across the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and Kuwait. The conflict has now entered its 18th day, with hostilities continuing to spread across the region.

Casualty figures remain disputed and vary widely between sources. In Iran, estimates suggest between 1,200 and 1,300 people have lost their lives, with tens of thousands more wounded. More than 700 deaths have been reported in Lebanon. In Israel, at least ten people are reported to have been killed and more than 5,000 injured.
