Uzbekistan considers raising military retirement pay for personnel with over 30 years of service
The Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis has reviewed a draft law in its first reading aimed at enhancing the social protection of military personnel and their families. The proposed legislation, titled "On State Pension Provision for Military Personnel (Employees) and Their Family Members," seeks to establish a firm legal framework for military retirement benefits and modernize the criteria for calculating these payments.

One of the most significant changes proposed in the bill targets veterans with over 30 years of service. Under the current system, the base amount of a pension is calculated using 75% of a service member's relevant salary. The new draft law proposes increasing this figure to 100%. Furthermore, the deputies suggested adjusting the calculation base itself, moving from a factor of 10 times the base pension amount to 12 times.
Lawmakers emphasized that these reforms are necessary to improve the overall attractiveness of military service and ensure robust social security for those who have dedicated three decades or more to national defense. By codifying these rules into law, the government aims to eliminate inconsistencies in how pensions are assigned and create a stable, unified mechanism for all eligible personnel and their dependents.
During the session, deputies noted that the adoption of this law would serve as a vital tool for the social protection of the military community. Following a constructive discussion, the Legislative Chamber passed the draft law in its first reading. The bill will now undergo further refinement before moving toward final approval.
