Uzbekistan issues Interpol red notice for former Uzmetkombinat chairman
Uzbekistan has placed the former Board Chairman of the Uzbek Metallurgical Plant, known as Uzmetkombinat, on the international wanted list.
According to information published on Interpol’s website, Dilshod Akhmedov, 53, is accused under Article 167, Part 3 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which covers embezzlement.
Akhmedov was appointed to lead the state-owned steel producer in October 2024 and was dismissed in August 2025. Before that, he served as Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade and as First Deputy Chairman of the company’s management board.
Uzmetkombinat, one of Central Asia’s largest metallurgical enterprises, reported a net profit of UZS 117 billion in 2025, down 66.4% from UZS 348.1 billion in 2024. The company posted a profit of UZS 513.7 billion in 2023.
The plant produces rolled steel, ferroalloys, and industrial gases, and is also involved in domestic and export sales of metal products. It has pursued modernization and energy-efficiency projects in recent years as part of broader industrial reforms in Uzbekistan.
