Uzbekistan ranks 66th globally for beef affordability
Uzbekistan ranked among countries with comparatively affordable beef prices, with the average cost of 1 kilogram estimated at $10.86, according to data from the global cost-of-living database Numbeo.
In a ranking of 101 countries updated on May 5, Uzbekistan placed 66th. Beef prices in the country were somewhat higher than in several other post-Soviet states, including Azerbaijan, where beef averaged $10.53 per kilogram, Belarus at $9.25, and Kazakhstan at $8.72, the data showed.
Switzerland recorded the highest beef prices in the ranking at $45.58 per kilogram, followed by Norway at $32.89 and Luxembourg at $27.65. In many developed economies, beef prices were several times higher than in Uzbekistan.
The top 15 positions in the ranking were occupied by countries where beef prices exceeded $20 per kilogram. This group included European nations such as Germany, Sweden, France, Finland, Austria, Italy, and Belgium, as well as Israel, South Korea, and Singapore.
At the other end of the spectrum, Pakistan recorded the lowest beef prices in the ranking at $4.68 per kilogram, followed by Nigeria at $4.73 and Kenya at $5.23.
