Uzbekistan, Brazil discuss expanding economic and diplomatic ties

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, hosted his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, for high-level talks in Tashkent today. The meeting focused on revitalizing the political dialogue and unlocking the vast economic potential between the two countries.

Writing on his Telegram channel, Minister Saidov noted that Brazil is considered one of Uzbekistan’s most important and reliable partners in Latin America. The discussions covered a wide array of sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, logistics, education, and tourism. Both sides emphasized the need to move beyond traditional diplomacy by filling the bilateral relationship with practical projects and new initiatives.

The parties mainly focused on fostering direct business links, welcoming the outcomes of a dedicated business forum and a round table held as part of the diplomatic mission. High-profile Brazilian companies and associations, including aerospace giant Embraer, energy equipment manufacturer WEG, and the petroleum company Petrobras, engaged in B2B and B2G meetings alongside agricultural and trade bodies like ABIEC, ABPA, and ApexBrasil.

Beyond bilateral interests, the foreign ministers exchanged views on global cooperation. The agenda included discussions on perspectives within the BRICS framework, the United Nations, and other international organizations. Both parties expressed confidence that this visit serves as a catalyst for elevating the relationship between Uzbekistan and Brazil to a new level.
