Uzbekistan and Hong Kong agree on 30-day mutual visa-free travel
Uzbekistan and Hong Kong have agreed to establish a mutual visa-free regime, allowing citizens of both sides to travel and stay without a visa for up to 30 days.
The initiative advanced following an exchange of diplomatic notes between Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, John Lee Ka-chiu. According to the Chief Executive’s Office, both parties will immediately begin discussing the practical details of the agreement to ensure it comes into force as soon as possible.

During their meeting, the two officials considered promising areas of partnership, focusing on investments, finance, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, transport, and logistics. The Uzbek side noted that Hong Kong’s unique experience as a premier international financial and business hub could significantly contribute to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s economy and the implementation of joint high-tech projects.
The discussion also placed a strong emphasis on expanding regional cooperation, strengthening direct ties between business communities, and promoting new collaborative initiatives. The introduction of the 30-day visa-free framework is expected to unlock new opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchanges, ultimately bringing the people of both regions closer together.

Currently, Hong Kong SAR passport holders can visit Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 10 days, while citizens of Uzbekistan are required to obtain a visa prior to traveling to Hong Kong.
