Uzbekistan’s consulate in New York urges citizens in US to strictly follow local laws
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York has issued an official advisory to Uzbek citizens currently residing in or visiting the United States, urging them to adhere strictly to local legislation.
According to the diplomatic mission, media outlets and social media platforms have recently seen an increase in reports regarding legal offenses allegedly involving Uzbek citizens or individuals of Uzbek origin.
The consulate has called on all compatriots in the United States to show utmost respect for American laws, local traditions, culture, and generally accepted rules of public conduct. It emphasized that any legal infraction carries personal criminal or administrative liability. Furthermore, isolated unlawful acts risk tarnishing the collective reputation of the broader Uzbek community in the US, which predominantly consists of law-abiding individuals engaged in honest labor, academic pursuits, and entrepreneurship.
While reiterating its commitment to providing necessary consular and legal assistance to citizens within its framework of authority, the Consulate General reminded the diaspora of the broader impact of their actions. The advisory concluded with a strong appeal to all compatriots to act responsibly and refrain from any behavior that could result in legal consequences or damage the image of Uzbekistan and its people abroad.
