Uzbekistan and Georgia sign strategic partnership declaration

Uzbekistan and Georgia have formally elevated their bilateral relationship to the level of a strategic partnership following talks between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

The two leaders signed a Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations, marking a new stage in cooperation between the two countries.

Following the signing ceremony, members of the two delegations exchanged a broad package of bilateral agreements and memorandums covering trade, digitalization, education, customs, agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare, labor migration, tourism, and other areas.

Among the key documents signed were an agreement on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs matters, an agreement on cooperation in information and communication technologies and digitalization, and an agreement covering vocational and higher education, science, and innovation.

The two governments also adopted a 2026–2027 Cooperation Program, while the ministries of culture signed a separate cooperation program covering 2027–2030.

In the economic sphere, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding between Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance and Georgia's Ministry of Finance, as well as a memorandum on implementing the E-Permit electronic permit exchange system.

Additional memorandums were concluded on cooperation in agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare, radiation protection and nuclear safety, labor migration, and tourism.

As part of the visit, Uzbekistan's Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement under the Prosecutor General's Office and Georgia's National Bureau of Enforcement under the Ministry of Justice also signed a memorandum of cooperation.
