The ceremony, held at the Barys Arena ice palace, was also attended by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and other foreign dignitaries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed participants via a video message.
The opening ceremony showcased the tournament's signature phygital format, which combines digital competitions with traditional sports and physical activity. Organizers say the format is designed to encourage greater youth participation in conventional sports.
President Mirziyoyev greeted participants of the international tournament during the ceremony.
Earlier in the day, Astana also hosted the Phygital Sports Summit, bringing together sports and technology ministers, heads of diplomatic missions and other senior officials.
The inaugural Future Games were held in Kazan in 2024, with Shavkat Mirziyoyev attending the opening ceremony. The second edition took place in Abu Dhabi in 2025.
At this year's tournament, Uzbekistan will compete in phygital football, laser tag and dance disciplines.
