According to the ministry, solar power generation has increased significantly during the day, creating an opportunity for the power system to make greater use of this output by shifting some industrial consumption to daylight hours.
Under the current tariff structure, however, some consumers are encouraged to move more production processes to nighttime, when the cost of electricity generation is higher.
The Ministry of Energy is therefore examining mechanisms that would encourage businesses to use more electricity during the day. Such a shift could allow companies to adjust their operating schedules while helping the power system make more efficient use of solar generation available during daylight hours.
The ministry is also considering changes to the balance between the higher and lower coefficients applied to the base electricity tariff depending on the time of consumption. No specific tariff parameters have been determined yet, and the final rates could change following further discussions.
As of July 24, electricity generated by solar and wind power plants since the beginning of the year had reached 7 billion kWh, up 23% from the same period in 2025.
Solar and wind plants generated their seventh 1 billion kWh tranche in just 22 days, marking a faster pace of renewable electricity production.
The combined installed capacity of the country’s solar and wind power plants has reached 5.6 GW, with photovoltaic facilities accounting for nearly 4 GW.
