Karimov told Kun.uz that the findings should not all be classified as completely illegal construction. In some cases, developers built more floors than they had been authorized to build or deviated from approved project plans.
“For example, there are cases where a developer obtained all the necessary project documents and permission to build nine floors but went on to construct a 10th floor,” Karimov said. “There are also cases where permission was granted for two nine-storey buildings, but the developer subsequently added another five floors on the same site.”
The city administration conducted the latest inventory together with relevant government agencies and submitted its findings and recommendations to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The proposals include measures against organizations that issued permits or were responsible for oversight, as well as action against the owners of the properties concerned. Authorities are now waiting for the developers to formalize the documentation for the affected projects.
Newport among sites identified
The Newport residential project is also included in the inventory, Karimov said.
Of the nine buildings constructed as part of the project, only three have the required permits, while the remaining six blocks were built without authorization, according to the official.
The Newport complex was added to the list of sites identified during the latest inventory, Karimov said.
He also stressed that stronger and more timely action by the relevant authorities could help prevent such violations and reduce the number of unauthorized or non-compliant structures in the city.
