According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the start of the academic year at higher education institutions will depend on students’ year of study. First-year students will begin classes on September 7, while second-year students and those in later years will return to the classroom on September 14.
This year, 209,000 applicants have been admitted to higher education institutions. Of these, 52,800 secured state-funded places, while 156,300 were admitted on a tuition-fee basis.
The ministry also said that 37.5% of applicants failed to meet the minimum passing score of 56.7 points.
