The agreement was reached during a video call between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and South African Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Parks Tau.

The ministers discussed ways to increase bilateral trade and investment and expand industrial cooperation, as well as plans for joint projects in priority sectors.

The sides also focused on preparations for a business mission of around 50 Uzbek companies to Johannesburg in autumn 2026. The delegation is expected to hold targeted business-to-business meetings with South African companies.

Uzbekistan and South Africa are also considering the establishment of an intergovernmental commission and the preparation of agreements covering trade and investment protection.

The sides agreed to continue work on joint initiatives and develop a portfolio of potential projects.
