The proposal would take effect October 1 and set a single-trip fare of UZS 2,500 for public transport in Tashkent — route buses and the metro — when passengers pay electronically. The council plans to keep the cash fare at UZS 3,000.
If the council adopts the proposal, the single fare for card or electronic payment will rise by UZS 800, or 47 percent.
The proposal sets the baggage fee at UZS 4,000. All amounts include VAT.
The draft also provides for new fare plans for transport cards based on the number of trips, as well as discounted and free fares for transfers between modes of public transport within one hour. It proposes unlimited fare plans for bus-only travel and for combined bus and metro travel. The council may also introduce discounted trip packages at 23 percent off the full price.
The system of discounts for transfers within one hour would remain in place.
For bus-only travel, the first trip would cost UZS 2,500 and the second UZS 1,500. The third and subsequent trips within one hour would be free.
When passengers use both the bus and metro, the first trip would also cost UZS 2,500, while subsequent transfers would cost UZS 1,500 or be free, depending on the trip order.
Under the hourly fare system, the council proposes allowing passengers to use the metro only once, with the 60-minute period restarting each time a passenger re-enters the metro.
