The meeting noted that geological surveys have covered 20% of Karakalpakstan’s territory, while growing interest from major investors has increased the importance of expanding available data on mineral reserves.
A Chinese investor has reportedly invested $33 million in the Urusoy deposit in Karauzyak district, introducing modern technologies. Gold reserves of 4 tonnes have been identified at the 200-hectare site, with 320 jobs created so far.
Mirziyoyev instructed officials to address investors’ concerns within a month. A comprehensive geological exploration programme will also be developed, along with a reassessment of reserves at existing deposits.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed officials to establish a gold mining and processing cluster in Karakalpakstan, creating around 1,000 jobs, the presidential press service said on Saturday (September 19).
