The 81st session of the UN General Assembly opened on September 8 and will run until September 29. As usual, the high-level week brings together presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers and other heads of government from UN member states.
Mirziyoyeva will represent Uzbekistan at the UN’s main podium during the high-level segment.
On September 21, Mirziyoyeva met UN Secretary-General António Guterres. She first signed the annual session guest book before posing for a photograph with the UN chief.
“We discussed all areas of cooperation that Uzbekistan and the UN have been developing together,” Mirziyoyeva said on her social media accounts.
She also thanked Guterres for his continued support for Uzbekistan across key areas of security.
Mirziyoyeva is expected to deliver her address on September 23, US time. She is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings in New York.
