The figure places the Italian fifth in a ranking published by the football data portal. However, Cannavaro’s salary has never been officially disclosed by the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA), while both the association and the coach himself have previously rejected reports that he earns €4 million a year.

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti tops the ranking with an estimated annual salary of €10 million, followed by Germany coach Jürgen Klopp on €7 million. United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino is listed on €6.1 million, while England coach Thomas Tuchel earns a reported €6 million.

Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus is also listed at €4 million, the same figure attributed to Cannavaro.

Transfermarkt’s figures put Cannavaro ahead of several other prominent coaches, including Zinedine Zidane of France (€3.6 million), Netherlands coach Xavi (€2.5 million), Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni (€2.3 million), Türkiye coach Vincenzo Montella (€2.2 million) and Italy coach Roberto Mancini (€2 million).

The €4 million figure, however, should not be treated as an officially confirmed salary.

In October 2025, UFA vice president Ravshan Ermatov rejected reports that Cannavaro and his coaching staff receive €4 million a year. He said the exact amount had not been disclosed in accordance with the terms of the agreement with the coach.

Cannavaro himself later also rejected the figure, saying that his annual salary was not €4 million.

Transfermarkt is a Germany-based football information portal founded in 2000. It provides data on players, coaches and clubs, including transfers, statistics, match results and estimated player market values. Some of its figures are estimates rather than official financial or contractual data.
