The agreement was reached at the 10th meeting of the Uzbekistan–India Joint Working Group on Counterterrorism, held in New Delhi on October 22, 2026, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said.

The meeting was co-chaired by Suhel Ajaz Khan, India’s Additional Secretary responsible for counterterrorism, and Gulomjon Pirimkulov, head of the department for cooperation with South Asian, Middle Eastern and African countries at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegations reviewed threats posed by terrorist groups globally and in their respective regions, exchanging views on existing and emerging challenges. Discussions covered efforts to counter extremism and radicalization, disrupt terrorist financing, prevent the use of technology for terrorist purposes, and address links between terrorism and transnational organized crime.

Both sides also considered ways to deepen bilateral cooperation through intelligence and information sharing, capacity-building and exchanges of best practices, as well as closer coordination between their relevant agencies.

Uzbekistan and India reaffirmed their commitment to working together in multilateral forums, including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.

The next meeting of the joint working group will be held in Uzbekistan, with the date to be agreed by both sides.
