Foreign trade participants to be given the right to use simplified customs procedures stipulated by international standards

Customs borders of Uzbekistan have been introduced modern innovative technologies. They help to monitor and view the placement of goods within heavy vehicles and containers, the conformity of goods within containers specified in the declarations and the absence of smuggled goods, the State Customs Committee reported.

As per the information provided by industry representatives, at present, the People’s Republic of China has provided the greatest technical assistance for strengthening the technical capacity of the customs authorities of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In 2018, within the framework of the project on equipping customs posts of the country with large-volume scanning devices from the grant of the People’s Republic of China, inspection complexes of RF6010 brand, train inspections system were provided. Effective use of inspection complexes envisages not only preventing the transport of counterfeit goods and smuggling of products, but also increases the efficiency of customs control, simplifying customs procedures, speeding up export-import procedures.

Extensive reforms carried out in the industry had a positive effect on the dynamics of customs payments. In particular, over the 11 months of 2018, 10 trillion 408 billion UZS of customs duties were collected for the import of goods into the country.

Privileges on customs payments in the amount of 41 trillion 394.6 billion UZS were applied in the country in order to further develop entrepreneurship and industries. This is 80% of the total customs payments.

Reforms on improving customs administration, simplifying customs procedures, improving the efficiency of customs operations, eliminating bureaucratic barriers to business development, aimed at improving the investment environment in the country will be consistently continued in 2019.

In particular, from February, 2019, the institution of authorized economic operators will be introduced, which will give bona fide foreign trade participants the right to use simplified customs procedures stipulated by international standards.
