Five teenagers arrested after 11th grade student fatally stabbed in Bekabad

Five teenagers have been taken into custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of an 11th grade student in Bekabad, Tashkent region, as authorities investigate a violent altercation involving several minors.

The incident occurred on March 5 near School No. 12 in Bekabad, where the victim studied. According to relatives, the teenager was beaten and stabbed by a group of youths following a dispute between students.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the conflict began as a verbal argument between several minors. During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly stabbed the victim in the right and left chest areas with a kitchen knife.

Although the injured student was taken to a medical facility, he later died despite receiving medical assistance.

Authorities said a criminal case has been opened under Article 97 of the Criminal Code – intentional homicide.

Five minors placed in custody

Initially, investigators reported the detention of one minor suspected of inflicting the fatal knife wounds. Later updates from the Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that a total of five minors have now been arrested in connection with the case.

All five suspects have been placed in custody as a preventive measure while investigative actions continue.

Relatives of the victim told Kun.uz that the conflict escalated after an earlier dispute between students. According to their account, five teenagers later arrived to confront the victim – three students from School No. 3 in Bekabad and two students from a local technical college.

Witnesses reportedly said the group arrived in a Nexia car before attacking the student. The victim was allegedly beaten with stones or other objects before being stabbed in the chest.

The injured teenager was later transported to hospital by a passing driver but succumbed to his injuries.

Conflicting accounts over timing of incident

The tragedy occurred near the school, though there are conflicting accounts about when the incident took place.

The principal of School No. 12 stated that the altercation happened after classes had ended. However, the victim’s mother said she was informed about the incident earlier in the day, suggesting it may have occurred during school hours.

Authorities say investigative actions are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the case.

Relatives of the victim have called for all those involved to be held accountable. The victim’s grandmother also expressed dissatisfaction that the families of the suspects had not contacted the family to offer condolences.
