Zarafshan-Karakum corridor of the Great Silk Road included in UNESCO World Heritage List
The decision to include historical sites along the route “Silk Road: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor” in the UNESCO World Heritage List was made at the 45th session of the committee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The route consists of 31 monuments located in Tajikistan (9), Turkmenistan (7), and Uzbekistan (15).
Uzbekistan participated as a project coordinator for the nomination " Silk Road: Zarafshan-Karakum Corridor".
This nomination reflects outstanding achievements in the field of architecture and technology, monumental art, and urban planning on this section of the Silk Road from the II century BC to the XVI century AD.
The event is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from September 10 to 25.
