Prosecutor General’s Office: Former leadership of the Pharmaceutical Institute misappropriated 2.5 billion soums

Today, June 17, at the conference hall of the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information, a meeting with Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Erkin Yuldashev and journalists was held.
During the meeting, the issues on prevention of corruption in the country was discussed.
“In 2018, 67 employees have been prosecuted in the system of Higher and Secondary Special Education, 34 of them were accused of embezzling and extorting property, 15 – fraud and 15 – bribery.
For example, ex-rector of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute Akhmad Yunuskhodjayev, deputy rectors Aliyev and Zayniddinov embezzled more than 2.5 billion soums of the budgetary funds.
Or at the National University, dean Abdurakhimov and his deputy Yusupov received $2,000 in bribes from an entrant promising to help with enrolment in the Faculty of Social Sciences based on additional quota,” Kun.uz correspondent quotes Erkin Yuldashev as saying.
It should be recalled that, rector of the Tashkent Pharmaceutical Institute Ahmad Yunuskhodjayev was dismissed from his post in February 2018 and was replaced by Ibrohim Alimjonov.
In August 2018, employees of the National University named after Mirzo Ulugbek, dean of the Social Sciences faculty Kodirjon Abdurakhimov and his deputy J. Yusupov were detained while taking a bribe.
