Foreign nationals burn Uzbek currency in viral video
A video circulating on social media shows three foreign nationals burning a 2,000-UZS banknote and using the flames to light cigarettes. From their conversation in the clip, they are presumed to be Chinese.

The video was originally shared on WeChat by a user named “Xiao Se” and has attracted significant attention online.
According to a source at Kun.uz, the individuals featured in the video are Chinese workers at a company in the Syrdarya region. They set a 2,000-UZS note on fire, used it to light cigarettes, and laughed while filming the act.
The incident could constitute a criminal offense under Uzbek law. Article 215 of the Criminal Code (disrespect for state symbols) stipulates that disrespecting the state flag, coat of arms, or national anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan or the Republic of Karakalpakstan may result in a fine of up to 25 times the minimum wage, up to 360 hours of compulsory community service, or up to three years of correctional labor.
