Uzbekistan may allow up to $10,000 in cash to be taken abroad without declaration

Uzbekistan plans to allow individuals leaving the country to take up to $10,000 in cash currency out of the country without declaring it, raising the current threshold from the equivalent of 100 million Uzbek soums, according to a presidential decree signed on Aug. 27.

Uzbekistan may allow up to $10,000 in cash to be taken abroad without declaration

The decree instructs the government to submit a relevant bill to the Cabinet of Ministers by the end of the year.

A declaration will be required only for amounts exceeding the equivalent of $10,000.

Previously, the threshold was set at 100 million Uzbek soums. Before Sept. 1, 2020, the limit was the equivalent of $2,000.
