Komil Allamjonov addresses rise in fake news and disinformation in media
On July 17, Komil Allamjonov, head of the Information Policy Department at the Presidential Administration, met with the heads of state and non-state television and radio channels, as well as other media outlets.
During the meeting, pressing issues in the sphere, new trends, the future state of the press, and the creation of national content were discussed. The meeting participants also exchanged views on transforming the unhealthy media environment, particularly improving legislation in the sector and regulating journalistic ethics.
"Recently, we have observed that media representatives are focusing on sensational materials, highlighting various unpleasant situations that dampen the mood, including exaggerating incidents related to murder and death.
Moreover, we are also witnessing an increase in the number of fake news and disinformation in social networks and the press.
From this perspective, we exchanged views on transforming this unhealthy media environment, particularly on improving legislation in the sector and regulating journalistic ethics," wrote Komil Allamjonov on his Telegram channel.
