Thai passenger detained at Tashkent airport with over 6 kg of marijuana
Customs officers at the Tashkent International Airport border post have apprehended a foreign citizen attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of narcotics into Uzbekistan. The suspect, who arrived on a flight from Bangkok, was found to be carrying more than 6 kg of marijuana.
The detection occurred during a routine customs inspection of the passenger's hand luggage and checked baggage. Officers from the "Tashkent-Aero" specialized customs complex identified 12 polyethylene packages hidden within various containers inside the luggage.
Upon opening the packages in the presence of witnesses, officials discovered a green substance with a pungent odor. A subsequent forensic analysis conducted by the Central Customs Laboratory confirmed that the substance was dried marijuana, with a total weight exceeding 6.3 kg.

Following the discovery, customs authorities initiated a criminal case regarding the incident. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the full circumstances of the smuggling attempt and any potential links to wider drug trafficking networks.
