Economic court judge in Syrdarya detained while accepting $3,600 bribe
A judge from the Syrdarya Regional Court has been apprehended for allegedly accepting a bribe of $3,600.
The judge was caught with physical evidence during a coordinated operation.
According to information provided by the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, the suspect is accused of soliciting the funds in exchange for securing a favorable ruling in a cassation-level economic case. The ruling was intended to benefit a limited liability company (LLC) operating in the city of Gulistan. The judge was detained red-handed during a special sting operation while receiving the money.
The Supreme Court emphasized that this arrest is part of a broader, ongoing effort to combat corruption within the judicial system and to purge the ranks of dishonest personnel. The authorities noted that all necessary measures are being taken to clean up the system and maintain public trust in the courts.
Furthermore, the official statement highlighted that the judiciary is focusing on preventing misconduct among judges and staff, while simultaneously identifying those who engage in corrupt practices to ensure they face the full extent of the law.
