John Deere considers launching machinery production in Uzbekistan

The American agricultural machinery giant, John Deere, is exploring the possibility of establishing production facilities in Uzbekistan.

On March 24, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, received a delegation led by Peter Sachs, John Deere’s Vice President for the CIS region. The parties discussed modernizing Uzbekistan’s agro-industrial complex and the integration of innovative solutions into the agricultural sector.

The negotiations focused on several strategic pillars aimed at transforming the local farming landscape:

  • Equipment supply: Increasing the availability of modern machinery across the country.
  • Infrastructure development: Expanding local service networks to support technical maintenance.
  • Digital integration: Introducing advanced digital technologies to improve farming precision.
  • Institutional partnership: Strengthening ties with local specialized institutes and research centers.

A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to the potential for direct investment and the localization of machinery production on Uzbek soil. By manufacturing locally, the parties aim to streamline the supply chain and adapt technology to specific regional needs.

Following the talks, both parties expressed a firm commitment to maintaining an ongoing dialogue to implement joint projects. The Ministry noted that a partnership with John Deere is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency and environmental sustainability of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector.

This meeting builds upon a series of recent diplomatic engagements. John Deere executives previously participated in business forums with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visits to the United States in November 2025 and February 2026. Those discussions highlighted broader cooperation with American businesses in sectors ranging from critical mineral extraction to finance and agriculture.
