Uzbek Consul General Akhror Burkhanov met with Costco executives to discuss opportunities for expanding exports from Uzbekistan to the United States.

During the meeting, Burkhanov presented Uzbekistan’s export potential in agriculture, textiles and handicrafts. Costco representatives were also shown samples of premium Uzbek raisins and dried apricots that are approved for import into the US market.

Costco representatives praised the quality and appearance of the Uzbek raisins and said the company was prepared to take the necessary steps to explore putting the product on sale through its retail network.

The sides also discussed potential supplies of pistachios, walnuts, almonds, blueberries, cherries, grapes, pomegranates and other fresh and dried fruits.

The meeting also covered ways to connect Uzbek exporters with packaging and labeling companies in the US and help them participate in a product presentation event scheduled for February next year.

Beyond food products, the sides considered opportunities to sell Uzbek textiles, traditional ceramics, tableware and handmade decorative goods through Costco. Company representatives said they would be interested in presenting competitive Uzbek products to their global buying teams.
