Olympic champion Akbar Djuraev bags three gold medals in Asian Weightlifting Championships
At the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, an athlete from Uzbekistan prevailed in both the snatch and the clean and jerk and in the total of the two lifts.
Akbar Djuraev, competing in the weight category up to 102 kg, lifted 180 kg in the snatch and was awarded a gold medal.
In the clean and jerk, Djuraev recorded a weight of 220 kg, which remained unsurpassed, and with the total of the two exercises, he amassed 400 kg. None of the weightlifters participating in these competitions could improve on this result, and our compatriot won the absolute championship at the tournament for the first time in his career.
Thus, Akbar concluded the competition with three gold medals.
