In his letter, the head of state expressed confidence that, under Lee Jae-myung’s leadership, South Korea would continue to grow intellectually and economically, further strengthening its standing and influence on the international stage.
“We attach great importance to elevating the friendly and comprehensive relations with the Republic of Korea to a new level. I am convinced that during your presidency, our special strategic partnership will continue to develop dynamically across all priority areas,” the message stated.
President Mirziyoyev also invited Lee Jae-myung to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time, with the aim of further enhancing the multifaceted and long-term ties between the two countries.
Extraordinary presidential elections were held recently in South Korea, resulting in the victory of Lee Jae-myung, the candidate from the liberal Democratic Party “Toburo,” which holds a parliamentary majority.
According to the Central Election Commission of South Korea, with 94.4% of the ballots counted by midnight, Lee Jae-myung had secured 48.8% of the vote, while his main opponent, Kim Moon-soo, received 42%. The preliminary voter turnout stood at 79.4% — the highest recorded in 28 years.
