Two new solar power plants to be commissioned in Uzbekistan in 2021 

Until October 2021, it is planned to build solar power plants in the Karmana district (Navoi region) and Nurabad district (Samarkand region) on the basis of public-private partnership. The power generation capacity of both projects is 100 MW and the total investment is expected to be $210 million. This is stated in the Investment Program for 2021-2023.

It is noted that 40 new jobs will be created at the planned SPPs.

According to the investment program, the construction of a solar power plant in the Nurabad district will be carried out by the French company Total Eren SA. The construction of the station in Navoi will be carried out by the UAE’s Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar.

On October 18, 2019, it was reported that Masdar (UAE) won the tender for the construction of a 100 MW SPPs in the Navoi region under the project “Scaling Solar 1”.

In addition, the presidential decree “On measures to improve the mechanisms for attracting foreign direct investment in the economy” states that it is planned to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 200 MW in the Sherabad district (Surkhandarya region) in 2021-2023, 200 MW in the Kattakurgan district (Samarkand region) in 2021-2024, 200 MW in the Gallaaral district (Jizzakh region) in 2021-2024.
