Uzbekistan participated in Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF)

On September 5, 2018, the VDNKh in Moscow hosted the opening ceremony of the 31th International Book Fair. It was attended by publishers and printing houses from more than 40 countries.

Representatives of the Press and Information Agency of Uzbekistan and large publishing and printing companies participated in the fair.

Members of the Uzbek delegation have entered into agreements with foreign partners straight away. Publishing and printing house “Uzbekistan” established bilateral contacts with the Russian “Elma” publishing center and “Elena Shubina” printing house. Besides, they have achieved agreements with the Chinese publishing company “BIBF” on rendering foreign literatures into Uzbek language and printing them in our publishing centers. In turn, Chinese “BIBF” will also take the responsibility of translating and publishing the samples of Uzbek literature into foreign languages.

The publishing and printing house named after Chulpan has conducted negotiations with the Russian publishing houses "Binom" and "Russkoye Slovo" on the purchase of original Russian-language literary works for children.

Following the exhibition, the organizing committee of the fair held the “Book of the Year” contest. More than 500 books of 120 printing houses were presented in it. The authors and the publishers of the selected 11 works were awarded with corresponding rewards.

“Bolshaya Rossiyskaya Ensiklopediya” (Great Russian Encyclopedia), completed in 36 volumes, was acknowledged as the “Book of the Year” nomination winner and was given the major prize of the contest.
