President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed establishing a regional transport communications council of Central Asian countries. This is stated in the President’s address to the participants of the high-level conference titled “Central Asia in the system of international transport corridors: strategic perspectives and unrealized opportunities”.

“Establishing a regional transport communications council of Central Asian countries is essential. The council will turn into a coordinating structure in solving problems of transport logistics,” said in the address which was read by the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

The President of Uzbekistan also suggested drawing up a strategy to develop regional transport corridors with the assistance of several international organizations’ specialists, such as ADB, IDB and others. In the future, a regional program for sustainable development of transport system will be adopted on its basis.

“Taking into account that the states of the region play a key role in the SCO’s activities, it will be appropriate to set up a management system of integrated transportations within the organization,” Mirziyoyev said.

Furthermore, the President also noted that it is necessary to develop transport communications and infrastructure together to boost tourist attractiveness of the region. “This can be achieved only by formulating the regional tourist hubs development concept in close cooperation with the World Tourism Organization,” the head of the state added.

“Undertaking this and other initiatives will have a significant impact on ensuring stability of Central Asia, turning it into economically developed region, increasing its competitiveness in the market of global transport service,” the address reads.
