The official exchange rate of the US currency against the Uzbek sum showed an uncharacteristic growth, increasing by 100.38 sums and reaching the mark of 8179.66, the press service of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reports.
The euro, in turn, lost its value by 23.58 sums, amounting to 9468.77. The ruble increased by 4.38 sums and 1 ruble is now equal to 125.84 Uzbek sums.
The Central Bank can influence the level of demand and supply of foreign currency through monetary policy by restraining the growth of money supply and increasing the attractiveness of assets in national currency, the press service of the bank adds.
