Distributors of psychotropic pills are penalized as drug dealers in Uzbekistan
In Uzbekistan, criminal and administrative liability for the illegal sale of analogues of narcotic substances has been introduced, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
This is envisaged in the law "On introducing amendments and addenda to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring public security", recently signed by the head of state.
Now, the Criminal and Administrative codes have been introduced the concept of responsibility for the illegal sale of “analogues of narcotic substances”. Thus, distributors of drug analogues, for example, psychotropic pills "lyrica", "sonata" and "tramadol", will be charged under the same articles as drug dealers.
Previously, many criminals were able to avoid serious punishment due to gaps in the legislative framework. Mainly, psychotropic drug traffickers were subject to Article 186-3 (production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of selling or trading substandard or falsified medicines or medical products) of the Criminal code.
It is worth noting that the use of psychotropic drugs is widespread among the young people of Uzbekistan, because they can be accessed easily compared to narcotic drugs, both in terms of low prices and availability in pharmacies. These drugs quickly lead to addiction and abnormal use of them. Very often, under the influence of such psychotropic drugs, young people engage in fights in the places of entertainment.
