New home buyers to get a permanent residence permit in Tashkent
Citizens of Uzbekistan can now apply for a residence permit in Tashkent and Tashkent region when they buy housing of any value from new multi-storey buildings. The changes are approved by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 22, Norma.uz reports.
Earlier, citizens of Uzbekistan and foreigners could obtain a residence permit in the capital and Tashkent region when they bought housing in a new building, whose value was at least 2,500 times the minimum wage (for residents of Uzbekistan) and 600 million sum (for non-residents and stateless individuals).
In addition, citizens of Uzbekistan had to pay a 5 percent fee (foreigners and stateless persons a 10 percent) for a notarial certification of the contract of sale.
“Now the restrictions on the amount of the transaction for the citizens of Uzbekistan have been completely cancelled. The amount of the transaction can be as small as 1 sum,” the report reads.
Restrictions for foreigners on the cost of housing are valid and increased up to 3300 times the minimum wage.
However, it is still not permitted to purchase housing on the secondary market without a residence permit in Tashkent for residents and non-residents of Uzbekistan.
