The State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan detained several drug couriers who brought narcotics from neighboring states and delivered them to Uzbekistan, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

A resident of Kokand, M.O., moved to neighboring Tajikistan and purchased opium worth $ 4000. Then he negotiated with his accomplice U.K., also a resident of Kokand, by telephone about the delivery of these drugs to Uzbekistan.

The trafficker was arrested while attempting to transport the narcotics through Bekabad checkpoint. In the course of operational activities, 2 kilograms of opium was found in the convict’s car.

Moreover, another similar case was prevented by law enforcement officers. A resident of Margilan Kh. I., previously convicted, was stopped on the way from Kuvasoy to Fergana. Feeling the trouble, the man got out of the car and threw the package he was holding into the street. Kh.I was detained while trying to escape. His accomplice D. M. managed to escape from the scene but arrested later on in Margilan.

Hashish, weighing 672 grams, was found in the tossed package. The men bought drugs in Kyrgyzstan and brought them to Uzbekistan through a bypass road near the village “Polmon”.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs instigated criminal cases against the convicts under Articles 246 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. Investigative actions are being conducted.
