A passenger killed, a driver injured after being chased by the police (video)
On the night of October 28, at around 2 a.m., a "Lacetti" driver breached traffic rules by steering the vehicle without having a valid driving license. When the police officers asked him for other documents he tried to escape them by speeding, the Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent reported.
The policemen warned him to stop but he ignored them and increased speed. Consequently, the violator crashed into a "HOWO" mixer truck at the intersection of Olmazor and Islam Karimov Streets in Shaykhantakhur district.
As a result of the traffic accident, the driver of the car J.A., 29, was heavily injured and hospitalized. But a passenger, a 26-year-old Sh.Kh., who was in the car with J.A., died on the spot due to fatal injuries.
Interior Ministry initiated a criminal case under Article 266, Part 2 ("Violation of traffic safety rules") of the Criminal code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the investigation, the causes of the traffic accident and the circumstances, which led the driver to exceed speed, were identified.
A service inspection has been appointed against the traffic officers who chased the violator.
