Uzbekistan, Romania to strengthen ties
On October 30, 2018, the Foreign Ministry held the fifth round of political consultations between the foreign affairs agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Romania.
The Romanian delegation was headed by the State Secretary (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dănuţ-Sebastian Neculaescu.
During the meeting, the sides thoroughly discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation in the “Uzbekistan-European Union” format, taking into account the Romania's Presidency of the Council of the EU starting from January 1, 2019.
The parties spoke in favor of strengthening and further developing the Uzbek-Romanian dialogue in the political, trade-economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres, imparting a systemic character to inter-parliamentary relations, establishing and encouraging direct contacts between the business circles as well as heads of travel agencies of the two countries.
The meeting underlined the mutual interest in launching a new interaction mechanism - the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, whose regular meetings will quickly respond to the market situation and resolve emerging issues, expand the range of goods turnover, and maintain the investment capacity of Uzbekistan and Romania.
It is worth noting that the Romanian Ambassador Romeo Stanciu did also attend the talks.
