Uzbek citizen sentenced to 19 years for burning his four-year-old son alive in Russia
The father was found guilty of the death of a four-year-old son during a fire in Chelyabinsk region (Russia) last year. Uzbek citizen was sentenced to 19 years in a strict regime colony. It is reported by the press service of the Chelyabinsk regional court.
Bakhrom Dadakhanov did not admit his blame. During the trial, he insisted that the house was set on fire by unknown persons. In deciding the punishment, mitigating circumstances were taken into consideration: the man collaborated with the investigation, suffered from burns during the fire and was not previously convicted.
The fire occurred in the village “Gorniy” (Argayashskiy district, Chelyabinsk region) on March 19, 2017. After a quarrel with his wife, Dadakhanov left the house for a canister of petrol. He returned to the house with fuel, poured it on himself, the woman, furniture and threw a lit match. The adults ran out into the street and the four-year-old son remained inside. The boy died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
This happening caused a wide resonance in Argayashskiy district. Locals began collecting donations. Initially, it was reported that the cause of the tragedy could be the child's mischief. Later, investigators found out that Dadakhanov was the culprit. Criminal proceedings were instituted (“murder of a young child, in a helpless state which is known by the guilty, committed with extreme cruelty, in a generally dangerous way” and “attempted murder of two persons”).
