Uzbekistan to hold biennial international festival of folk applied arts
Kokand will host the International Festival of Applied Arts once every two years, Kun.uz correspondent reports referring to the presidential decree.
The first festival will be held on September 10-15, 2019. Within the framework of this festival, it is planned to organize a scientific-practical conference titled “Prospects for the development of craftsmanship and folk applied arts”.
Famous masters and craftsmen, specialists, scientists, historians, as well as honored guests from foreign countries will be invited to the festival.
As part of the event, on the territory adjacent to the central square of Kokand city, it is planned to organize expositions devoted to different areas of folk applied arts, with a demonstration of ancient craft machines and the process of manufacturing products, exhibition-sales of handicrafts, works of fine and applied art, as well as themed feature films and documentaries, books, albums and photos.
In addition, the festival will display collections of national costumes, presentations of satirist-comedians and theatrical performances of high-rope entertainers with the participation of professional and folklore creative teams.
It is expected that a detailed roadmap on the organization of the first International Festival of Folk Applied Arts should be ready by mid-November.
