Uzbekistan to oversee the launch of the first aggregate of Rogun HPP
The Minister of Water Resources of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamrayev will visit Tajikistan on November 16 to personally oversee the launch of the first giant unit of the Tajik hydropower plant “Rogun”.
In accordance with the report of “AP” source at the Tajik government, Mr. Khamrayev will visit the construction area of “Rogun” hydropower plant at the invitation of the Tajik side.
Tajikistan sent invitations to the governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan as well. So the representatives of these countries are also expected to participate in the launching ceremony of the first unit of “Rogun” HPP.
The construction of Rogun HPP is under the personal control of the head of state.
Designed capacity of the plant will be 3,600 megawatt, which makes it the largest hydropower plant in the Central Asia.
