President visited Nukus International Airport and Muynak district

On 15 November, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Nukus and studied the modernization works at Nukus International Airport, the presidential press service reported.

It was noted that within the framework of the presidential instructions given during his visit in January 2017, construction and reconstruction works worth almost 80 billion sums were executed. Airport building is renovated. The terminal is expanded and equipped with modern technologies.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that Nukus International Airport will contribute to the economic development of Karakalpakstan, expansion of business contacts and increasing the flow of tourists.

Following his visit to the airport, Mr. Mirziyoyev toured to the Muynak district.

It should be noted that in Muynak, which is the most northern part of the country, more than 30 thousand people live. Most of the working-age population is employed in the areas of production, services, trade, agriculture and others.

In recent years, as a result of concrete measures taken to improve the environmental situation in the region, the living standard of the people has increased significantly.

In 2019, in the region, it is planned to implement 12 projects in the field of industry, 5 projects in agriculture and 14 projects in the sphere of service provision.

The President got acquainted with the presentation of these projects and gave instructions on how to organize the production of goods in demand on the domestic market, using the potential and natural resources of Muynak.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to build 20 apartment buildings in Muynak in the next two years, thus creating a new array.

A dialogue with representatives of the local population was held in the hall of the Museum of Ecology, which discussed the great prospects opening up for the region.
