Uzbekistan, the Czech Republic to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation

On November 27, the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting with members of the delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Vojtěch Filip. 

At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries.

Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Sarvar Otamuratov briefed the guests on the extensive reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan to ensure sustainable development and public interests, importance of lawmaking in these processes, as well as activities of the Legislative Chamber. 

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic were established in 1993. It allows developing cooperation between the countries in various fields. 

It was emphasized that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan’s relations with neighboring and European partner countries are consolidating based on principles of friendship, trust and mutually beneficial partnership.  

Vojtěch Filip stated that domestic and foreign policies, as well as large-scale reforms have been yielding positive results. Further development of cooperation in the field of parliamentarism has been mutually beneficial for both sides. He also stressed the need for effective use of opportunities of the friendship group “Czech Republic – South Caucasus and Central Asia countries”. 

The sides also discussed the issues of supporting mutually beneficial trade-economic, political, cultural and humanitarian spheres between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to exchange experience on control-analytic activities between the legislative bodies of two countries and implement promising projects in this field.
